Blood Flow Measures

PET and fMRI

There are two main measurement technologies used in neuroscience that derive images of brain activity by measuring blood flow in the brain:

  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
  • Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)

Both techniques provide indirect measures of brain activity because they rely on the assumption that mental activity increases demand for oxygen or glucose in regions in the brain that are activated, and that this need is met by increased blood flow to the region.

Get Creative

Directly measure unfiltered reactions to new messages and concepts.

Work Faster

Determine whether a product or marketing concept is working much earlier in the development process.

Choose Smarter

Calibrate and fine-tune concepts to rapidly eliminate what doesn't work and focus on what does.
